AN INTERACTIVE 3D MODEL FOR PATHOLOGY INSTRUCTION
AUDIENCE Pathology students
FORMAT Interactive 3D model / Animation
MEDIA ZBrush / Keyshot
This interactive 3D model of Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) can be used in pathology instruction. It was modeled and textured in ZBrush to be uploaded to the Sketchfab platform. Alternatively, an online turntable animation shows the main features of the polycystic kidney and its relative scale and morphology with respect to a healthy organ.

SPECIMENS
The kidney model is based on multiple sources, including specimens from the pathology collection...
CT DATA

ZBrush Modelling and Texturing
The polycystic and healthy kidney were modelled in ZBrush. They were textured mostly using the Spotlight feature, which makes it possible to paint photographic textures directly onto a 3D model.
ANIMATION STILL
The model was exported to Keyshot for further texturing and animation. Through adjustment in the models' opacity levels, the animation provides a frame of reference for scale by overlaying the polycystic kidney with a healthy one.
